Careers Strategy for JCS
Careers education provides students with the skills, knowledge, and encouragement students need to get the most out of their desired career path. Students display higher levels of engagement and motivation when they have a clear understanding of what they want to do.
Short Term Strategy
- A. Identify Key points throughout a students’ life at JCS where Careers education is important
- B. Provide assessments that identify possible career pathways
- C. Identify opportunities for students to explore the above
- D. Provide backward compatible learning pathways for chosen careers
- E. Look at labour information in desired areas of living
Long Term Careers Strategy
- A. Identify members of the JCS community that can offer careers guidance and help
- B. Meeting the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks for careers education which are:
- A stable careers programme
- Learning from careers and labour market information
- Addressing the needs of each student
- Linking the curriculum to careers
- Encounters with employers and employees
- Experiences with work places
- Encounters with higher education
